Kashmir witnessed a landmark moment in its logistics and food security history as the first-ever Food Corporation of India (FCI) food grain freight train successfully reached the Anantnag Goods Terminal.
The train carried 1,384 tonnes of rice from Punjab, marking a major boost to efficient transportation, timely supply, and cost-effective food distribution in the Valley. This historic arrival is expected to strengthen the Public Distribution System (PDS) and reduce dependency on road transport, especially during harsh winters.
More such freight rakes are expected in the coming days, ensuring smoother logistics and enhanced food security for Jammu & Kashmir.
