Dynamo BIM Bridging Revizto Issue Tracking with Revit Spatial Data (FM & Defects) BuildSA 2020 2/2

This is Part 2 of a presentation originally given at BuildSA, where we demonstrate a powerful solution for connecting on-site issue tracking from Revizto with the precise spatial data in Revit—all automated by a custom Dynamo script.

The Problem: Revizto excels at quick, 3D issue tracking (defects, FM checks) but lacks the ability to inherently tag those issues with crucial spatial information like Room Name, Level, or Building (data stored in Revit). Clients and contractors need this data for efficient, space-based management.

The Solution: Luke developed a Dynamo script that:
Exports Revizto issue data (including the complex 3D camera coordinates) to Excel.
Unpacks the 3D coordinates using Dynamo.
Translates the coordinates to Revit space.
Uses Revit's room spaces to determine the exact spatial location of each issue.
Drops a Revit family (an "Issue Sphere") at the location, color-coded by status, with the new spatial data now attached to the element's parameters.

Pushes the enriched data to our Deep Space cloud database for external consumption via a custom web portal (FM reporting, cost tracking, etc.).

This tool not only solves the initial problem but creates a flexible, open-source workflow to manage nearly any data relationship between coordination, technical documentation, and external users (suppliers, builders, clients). We also discuss how to handle exterior defects where no Revit room exists.
