While my father graciously assisted with recording the neighboring 24th Street crossing on my old and crusty Canon camcorder, I came over to this crossing with my admittedly equally crusty Sony camcorder. After an unusually long wait, Amtrak 92 finally departed Tampa Union Station bound for points north.
This crossing is quite a classic. It features a pair of vintage gates; the near one consists of mostly WRRS equipment and was installed by the ACL in the 50s or 60s, while the far one, consisting of mostly US&S equipment, was installed by the SCL later on, most likely in the 80s. Both crossings have had their lights swapped out; the near one received Safetran incandescent lights while the far one received Western Cullen Hayes LED lights. Finally, there is a General Signals Type 1 electronic bell on the far crossing, which is likely to be the third bell to have been installed at this crossing at a minimum. All in all this is quite a classic which I am glad to have recorded.
