Hi Matt with etrailer and today we're talking about the Yakima Overhaul Ladder Rack System on the back of our 2024 GMC Sierra 1500. And this can be a great option for you if you're looking for something so you can haul a lot more items or you wanna do some camping or using it for recreational uses. So let's check it out. Our system today is gonna be comprised of three parts and the first one is gonna be up top and that's gonna be our 68 inch Yakima HD crossbars. So a few things about this one is up top you're gonna have this T channel that you can use for T channel accessories, which is really nice because this is a thicker bar so it's gonna be harder to put on a lot of clamp on accessories. And with that we're gonna have this included weather strip at the top that's gonna keep a lot of debris and water from getting in there and it's also gonna help reduce wind noise.
At the very end of it, we're also gonna have this anchor point, so this is gonna be great if you need a tie off to, so if you do have any ladders up here or any kayaks, you'll be able to use this to tie them off to. And right below that,e, we're gonna have our towers. And what's really nice about these towers is they're pretty unique. So you notice we have these two bolts at the very front of it, there are gonna be two more bolts on the back of it and what that's gonna allow you to do is either raise or lower this to accommodate different situations. Maybe you got a lot of stuff in the back of your bed that's harder to get in here if these are lower.
But you also don't want 'em too high at some points because of clearance issues. So you have the ability to adjust them. And at the backside we'll also have an anchor point if you want to tie off anything else to that. And this is gonna connect down to the base. We're gonna have a locking and non locking base and that's gonna just provide more security on half of 'em.
And how this is gonna sit on is they're gonna grab onto your bed rails and have clamps on the backside that attach to 'em. Something I should probably also mention about the towers is they're gonna have these two holes on each one of them. And what those holes are for is for getting on a separate piece where you can put on the sidebar, you can buy that separately. And what that's gonna do is it's gonna have a channel on it. We'll be able to mount other accessories like a light bar.
We can talk about how this is gonna sit on the back of here now. So since this is adjustable, it's gonna have a couple different heights, but what we have it right now is gonna sit just right above our cab. But you can adjust this to sit at 19 inches above your bed or all the way up to 30 inches. So what that's gonna look like is 19 inches. It's gonna be right about here, so gonna be a little bit under what we have it right now. If you go the 30 inch route, it's gonna be all the way up here. So you're gonna have plenty of room to play around with. As for the crossbar spread now it's gonna be up to you. You're gonna be able to put this on wherever you can fit it underneath your bed rails. Right now we still have a little bit of room to spare. It'll give you an idea of what we're working with. The spread we have at the moment is gonna be about 39 and a half inches. The overhang we have right now I actually think is a pretty good amount. 'cause if I measure from the tower to the end of our crossbar, that's gonna be about seven and a half inches. So you'll be able to get smaller accessories up here. Anything like either ski carriers or you probably could get a smaller kayak carrier up here too, to be closer to the edge. Now if you want anything like ladders closer to the edge, I actually recommend going up a size to our 78 inch crossbars, just so you have a little bit more room to play and you don't have to worry about reaching, trying to grab way over inside your bed. It's gonna be a lot easier to grab on the outside of your vehicle. We're gonna have a weight capacity of up to 300 pounds on road and 180 pounds off road. Now that is gonna be your weight capacity for your dynamic. Now, for your static, that's gonna be a lot higher, though. Overall this is gonna be a great option for you if you do plan on using this for more work purposes, whether you need to throw a lumber or ladders up there. And it's also gonn
