In this video we explore which kind of strawberry plants you should get for your garden.
We explore June Bearing plants which are planted in the fall and produce most of their crop in the span of 1 month in late spring.
We look at the Everbearing type which produces a crop in spring and another one in the fall, at the cost of yield and taste.
We talk a lot about day neutral strawberry plants which are in my opinion the best and most appropriate for the home gardener. Day neutrals produce all season as long as temperatures are between 36f and 80f. Modern varieties such as Albion, Seascape and Charlotte yield as much as june bearing varieties and taste is also on par.
In the second part of the video we take a look at the different types of strawberry plants available to the home gardener.
Bare root root plugs are kept in cold storage all winter and come dormant without any leaves. Then there are tray plants which come already awake and with a few leaves which helps give an earlier and more abundant crop.
We finally look at potted plants that, while being the most expensive, also perform the best.
Im happy to answer questions in the comment section.
ENJOY!
