Today we are off exploring an interesting 150 year old relic of a road.

We take a ride up a road made back in 1870, Welcome, this is Dudley Moore from Remote Places NZ

Back In the hills of Cromwell, Central Otago, NZ, is an old dray road built in 1870 up into the Carrick Range, during the time the area was gripped by “GOLDFEVER”. It was that precious yellow stuff that drove the opening of this road, and today you can travel it by; shanks pony, Mountain Bike, adventure motorbike or horse. At times it is easy-going, but can be very steep in places, which the photos don’t really show and at times, it’s plain rundown and ornery.
