WATCH | Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine gives State of the State address

Gov. Mike DeWine is set to deliver the 2025 State of the State address on Wednesday at noon to a Joint Session of the Ohio General Assembly.

Much of his address is expected to be related to budget priorities, with the Fiscal Year 2026-2027 Executive Budget introduced on Feb. 3 of this year.

“We’re focusing on our kids, our economy, our workforce and our institutions of higher education,” said Gov. DeWine in the introduction of his Executive Budget Recommendations. “We are preserving Ohio’s water supply and protecting our awe-inspiring natural resources. We’re prioritizing health, mental health and public safety. At its heart, our executive budget is focused on giving all Ohioans the chance to live up to their God-given potential in Ohio, the Heart of it All.”

It's been a busy year for Gov. DeWine already. The week after the budget introduction, he appointed a new Lieutenant Governor after selecting Jon Husted as Ohio's newest U.S. Senator when J.D. Vance was sworn in as Vice President in January.

DeWine nominated former Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel to be his second-in-command. Both chambers of the Ohio General Assembly quickly confirmed him. Less than a month since his swearing-in, Wednesday will mark Tressel's first State of the State as Lieutenant Governor.

Since the GOP holds the majority in both the Ohio House and Ohio Senate, much of the Joint Assembly is likely to be in agreement with the Republican Governor's message on Wednesday, especially when it comes to budget priorities.
