The year 1987 was the year of new hopes for Indian FIlm Industry. In the past two years, Indian film industry has experienced many storms like a long strike in cinema business in Mumbai and piracy of the videos. After getting over from these problems film industry has got the signs of new stirs. Enthusiasm and hope can be seen in the quantity of the films, in the year 1987 more than 900 films were produced. The success of Hindi movies motivated the box office. On the other hand, Filmotsav in Trivandrum has presented a different picture of Indian film industry. The collection of 21 films for the panorama of Filmotsav has become a tough task and the organizers had to satisfy themselves with only 18 films. The panorama was always a parameter of the finest films, it gives the information to foreign critics about selected Indian films. But, this time the panorama disappointed the well-known film critics.
