We straight-piped our MK4 VW Jetta TDI, and things went downhill fast. After hearing how insane the diesel sounds, we end up stranded on the side of the highway with the car smoking after the serpentine belt snaps due to a seized AC compressor. We limp it home, struggle through the repair with stripped bolts and wiring issues, replace the compressor and belt, then fire it up to make sure the job’s done right. After fixing everything, we take it out to finally hear the straight-pipe exhaust in action, driving, loud turbo noises, and revving.
