In this Christmas Candlelight Service message, Pastor Robert dives deep into the profound question at the heart of Christmas: “What Child is This?” Drawing from the beloved carol and selected Bible passages, this sermon beautifully explains the doctrine of the Incarnation – God becoming man in the person of Jesus Christ.

Before exploring who this Child in the manger truly is, Pastor Robert first establishes why we can trust the Bible's testimony about Jesus.
1. Manuscript Evidence: Thousands of ancient New Testament manuscripts in Greek and other languages show remarkable consistency, proving the text has been faithfully preserved.

2. Early Dating and Eyewitness Testimony: The New Testament was written soon after the events, by eyewitnesses or their close companions, allowing claims to be verified in real time.

3. Archaeological Confirmation: Discoveries continue to verify biblical people, places, events, customs, and historical details once doubted by skeptics.

4. Fulfilled Prophecy: Hundreds of Old Testament prophecies, written centuries earlier, are specifically fulfilled in Jesus' life, death, and resurrection.

5. Internal Consistency: Written over 1,500 years by 40+ authors from diverse backgrounds, the Bible tells one unified story of redemption – evidence of divine inspiration.

6. Transforming Power: The Bible has convicted, comforted, and changed countless lives across cultures and generations.

7. Survival Under Persecution: Despite being banned, burned, and attacked throughout history, the Scriptures have endured and spread worldwide.

Grounded in 2 Timothy 3:16–17 (NKJV) – “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God…” – this message assures us that what the Bible says about Jesus can be fully trusted.

Three astonishing biblical passages that unveil the true identity of the Child in the manger:
1. The Child is the Holy One, High and Lifted Up
Connecting Isaiah 6:1–3 (the vision of God's throne room with seraphim crying “Holy, holy, holy”) to John 12:37-41, we see that the glorious Lord Isaiah beheld was none other than Jesus Himself. The eternal Holy One chose to come near in mercy, born in a manger – only a perfectly holy Savior could bear our sins without being defiled.

2. The Child is the Son of Man with Everlasting Dominion
From Daniel 7:13-14, we see the “Son of Man” receiving an eternal, unshakable kingdom. Jesus boldly claims this title in Mark 14:61-62, even while on trial for His life. The Baby in Bethlehem is the coming King whose dominion will never end – history is moving toward His throne.

3. The Child is the Pierced Savior – God Himself
Zechariah 12:10 speaks of God saying, “They will look on Me whom they pierced,” fulfilled at the cross in John 19:34–37. The Incarnation brings God close enough to be wounded for our transgressions – the manger leads inevitably to the cross and resurrection.
