The Aiki Dojo 2 Minute Technique - Ai Hanmi

Andrew Loviska, Aikido Shodan demonstrates the basics of Ai Hanmi (合半身) or “mutual stance” or “same sided grab.” Sometimes Ai Hanmi is referred to as “cross hand” because the opponent is attacking the opposite side or hand of their opponent. Generally speaking, there are only two orientations of attack: Ai Hanmi or “same side” and Gyaku Hanmi or “opposite side.” We hope that this video helps to illustrate some of the possibilities of negotiating an attack from the same side.
