Описание:

This is a video lecture about the famous NY State court case, Riggs v. Palmer, 115 N.Y. 506 (1889). This case is important, in part, because Ronald Dworkin discusses the case as an example of legal principles being used in adjudication. This lecture mostly discusses the majority opinion of Justice Earl, who held that Elmer Palmer could not inherit the estate of his grandfather, Frances Palmer, even though the senior palmer's will clearly stated that Elmer was to inherit, because Elmer had murdered his grandfather and because no one should profit from their own wrong. This is part of a Philosophy of Law course.
