Birth and Childhood (REAL FACT)
Swami Vivekananda was born on 12 January 1863 in Kolkata, India.
His childhood name was Narendranath Datta.
His father, Vishwanath Datta, was a lawyer, and his mother, Bhuvaneshwari Devi, was a deeply spiritual woman.
From childhood, Narendra was brave, intelligent, and curious. He asked difficult questions like:
“Does God really exist?”

Narendra was very good at studies and sports. He studied at Scottish Church College, Kolkata.
He read books on science, philosophy, and religion, but he was not satisfied.

One day, Narendra met Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, a saint of Dakshineswar.
Narendra directly asked him:

After Ramakrishna’s death in 1886, Narendra and other disciples lived in poverty.

He took sannyas (monkhood) and became Swami Vivekananda.
