This is NOT a Bridgeport - getting our 2nd large MIGHTY VIPER milling machine

We did it again! This “New to us” machine is a Mighty Viper B3000 and has a table size of 72”x120”. It's a little bit smaller than the previous mighty viper but one thing is clear, we are becoming a shop of big machines. I know this is considered a tiny machine by a lot of machine shops, but in this area, this it the second largest milling machine (the first being our other mighty viper) within several hundred miles of our shop!

One of the lessons of this video is “do what you’re good at”! We are not experts in moving heavy equipment, so we don’t even try; we get professional who are experts to do the job. We focus on what we do and they focus on what they do, and the job went as smoothly as one could have hoped for.

One thing to be noted is that the company that provided the crane service is a separate company that actually moved the machine into the building. In this situation we need the expert services of 2 distinct groups of professionals!

Crane – 110 tons
Machine weight – 32 tons
Total time to move – about 6 hours
