I am amazed at these new protected bike lanes in #QuezonCity? But there is a lot to improve to make cycling safer in Metro Manila and everywhere in the Philippines. The Agham and B.I.R. Road protected cycletracks were built during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic amid severe lockdowns in Metro Manila, as people were faced with capacity limitations on public transpo, there is a need for safe bicycle infrastructure for essential trips. Watch this brief overview of these protected bike lanes in the country’s largest city.
While I’m on my workcation in the Philippines, where I was born and learned to ride a bicycle, I want to explore a lot of cycling infrastructure as well as challenges in bike commuting in Metro Manila.
