The Seasons 2023 - Ch. 3 - Early Spring Visitors - New England Garden Tour

April in New England is still fairly brown with brave shoots of green making their way towards the sun. Due to the drought last year coupled with a brutal late-winter frost, the majority of our flowering trees didn't flower at all but instead went straight to leafing out. Many other perennials' tender buds froze, meaning the plants are focusing on regrowing this year instead of flowering.
Nevertheless, we had some lovely visitors to the garden this month, and many bees have made use of our homemade "bee hotel." Over 90% of all bees are solitary bees, and our little bee hotel offers places for female solitary bees to make nests and lay their eggs!

The contents of this film were captured in a residential American backyard garden originally established over 30 years ago on less than 6,000 square feet of land. This bucolic garden offers a luscious hermitage layered with tree canopies sheltering bountiful shrubs and perennials. Native and non-native, edible and non-edible plants are celebrated. An engaging respite for humans and animals alike.

Located in Hardiness (Planting) Zone 6B, experiencing four seasons of New England weather conditions.
