Naumati Baja is a famous instrument in Nepal. Naumati Baja is a group of nine instruments. It is a larger version of Panchaibaja in which four other instruments are added.
This includes the instruments Damaha, Cyali, Tamko, Dholak, Sahanai, Karnal, Narasingha, of which there are two each of Sahanai and Damaha. Sahanai and Narasingha are blown, large Damaha, small Damaha, Dholak and Tamko are struck, and the Jhyamta and Mujura are played together.
This musical ensemble is called Naumati Baja because nine instrumentalists, folk artists, play the instrument at the same time, combining melody and rhythm.
