Every time I hear bluegrass music, I think of my Uncle Paul. He and several of his sons would play guitar and banjo at some of our family “get-togethers” (never “reunions”), and the sound of those instruments is forever wrapped up in waves of nostalgia and love for him and our family. Heartland March is a concert march that combines elements of bluegrass and folk music with the traditional concert march structure. The fiddle song-inspired melodies and Appalachian harmonies add a fun and folksy air to a genre that is typically considered rigid and traditional. I hope you enjoy this work.
