Sir Neil MacGregor (born 1946) is the founding Director of the Humboldt Forum, Berlin. He studied languages at Oxford University, philosophy at the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris, and History of Art at the Courtauld Institute of Art in London, before assuming the editorship of The Burlington Magazine. He was appointed Director of the National Gallery in London 1987, where he was responsible for a series of groundbreaking exhibitions and acquisitions. From 2002-2015 he was Director of the British Museum, where among other projects he oversaw the acclaimed BBC series A History of the World in 100 Objects, based on objects from the British Museum's collection. In October 2017, the first episode of MacGregor's new radio series on religious belief, Living with the Gods, was broadcast.

Sir Neil MacGregor (geb. 1946) ist Leiter der Gründungsintendanz des Berliner Humboldtforums. Er studierte Sprachen in Oxford, Philosophie an der Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris und Kunstgeschichte am Courtauld Institute of Art in London und wurde dann Herausgeber des Burlington Magazine. 1987 wurde er zum Direktor der National Gallery in London bestellt, wo er für eine Reihe bahnbrechender Ausstellungen und Ankäufe verantwortlich war. Von 2002 bis 2015 war er Direktor des British Museum, wo er unter anderem die preisgekrönte BBC Serie A History of the World in 100 Objects initiierte, die sich mit der Geschichte der Menschheit anhand von Objekten aus dem British Museum beschäftigt. Im Oktober 2017 wurde die erste Folge von MacGregors neuer Radioserie über Religion und Glauben Living with the Gods ausgestrahlt.
