Ballistics Expert Matches Guns To Ammo In Julio Foolio's Murder

Amara Drew of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement testified about guns and ammo in Alicia Andrews' trial over rapper Julio Foolio's murder in Tampa today (Tuesday, October 28, day 5).

Drew has worked at various crime laboratories, including Idaho and North Carolina, and currently at FDLE's Tampa and Jacksonville labs.

In her direct-exam with Assistant State Attorney Scott Harmon, Drew explained the process of handling evidence, including assigning FDLE numbers and conducting microscopic comparisons.

She explained how she identified and compared fired cartridge cases and bullets and determined if they were fired from the same firearm. She also discussed the use of binary triggers on firearms and the importance of class characteristics in firearm identification.
