How to fit a Shimano 11 Speed Chain

If you're fitting a new Shimano 11 speed chain to your road bike, here's a few tips on how to do it 👍

-Before you start make sure you fit the chain with the text facing you, as the chain is designed to run in a specific direction.

-Shift the front derailleur over the big chain ring, then lay the chain over the the big chain ring and the biggest cassette sprocket.

-Pull one end of the chain tight along the opposite end of the chain, like you are trying to make it look like a single speed. Once the chain is tight move the link at the end back to the nearest identical link on the opposite part of the chain.

-Now move the end link back a further 2 links.

-Pop the pin on that link with your chain tool and remove the excess links.

-Place the chain onto the small chain ring and the smallest cassette spocket, then pass the chain through the jockey wheels of the rear derailleur.

-Connect the 2 ends of the chain with your connecting links, making sure you pay attention the the arrows that indicate the direction of travel.

-When the links are partially connected rotate the cranks so the links are on the top part of the chain, then hit the crank with your palm or a soft tip hammer to force the links closed fully closed.
