The location of this temple is beautiful on the banks of the Bagmati river flowing in the eastern part of Kathmandu. Pashupatinath Temple is one of the world's largest Hindu shrines in Nepal. The temple is included in UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites.

Nepal has the pride of being the only Hindu country in the world. Pashupatinath himself was the national deity of the country until it became a Hindu country (became a secular country). Pashupatinath is celebrated in Nepal just like Kashi is celebrated in our Bharat. Pashupatinath is revered as the Kashi of Nepal.

Nepal is home to numerous temples and monuments of historical importance associated with Hinduism. Among these Pashupatinath occupies a very important place. Lord Shiva appears in the form of Mukha Linga in Pasupadeeswaram.
The Five Faces of Pashupatinath, Satyosad, Vamadeva, Tidpurusham, Agoram and Isanam represents the forms of Shiva.

If you go to the back of the Pashupatinath temple, you can see the river Bagmati. On the banks of the holy river Bagmati there are many ghat lined up for the pilgrims to take a dip. Aarti pujas are held in the evening on the eastern bank of the river Bagmati. As we celebrate the Ganga river as a holy river in our country of India, Baghmati river is also celebrated as a holy river in Nepal.

Just like the Ganga Aarti in Varanasi, Bhagmati Aarti is performed daily here. Thousands of devotees gather here in the evening to participate in Bagmati Aarti. Aarti Vaipavam is held for Pashupatinath from 6 to 6.30 pm. After that Aarti to Bagmati river takes place from 6.30 to 7 pm.

After witnessing Pashupatinath Aarti darshan, devotees gather on the banks of the river to witness Bhagmati Aarti. Devotional songs are played during Bhagmati Aarti and many Bhagadars light ghee lamps and float them on the river.

While chanting mantras Priests hold lamps and move them in a circular motion to perform aarti prayers to the river Bagmati. Shiva Dandava dance in honor of Pashupatinath is also a part of Pashupati Bhagmati Aarti. During this Bhagmati Aarti darshan, thousands of people gather to witness the aarti. It is also worth noting that on Mondays, there is a huge crowd here.

It is the belief of Hindus that one can attain moksha by dying in Pashupatinath. So like Kashi, hundreds of old people from every corner of Nepal and India come here to spend their final days and face death.

Basmeshwar Ghat is one of the most used cremation grounds in the Kathmandu Valley. Cremation is a common practice on these platforms. The cremation hills are symbolic of the Hindu dharma philosophy of not fearing death. People are allowed to observe the cremation process from the other bank of the river.

நேபாளம் இந்து மதத்துடன் தொடர்புடைய வரலாற்று முக்கியத்துவம் வாய்ந்த ஏராளமான கோயில்கள் மற்றும் நினைவுச்சின்னங்களுக்கு தாயகமாக உள்ளது. இவற்றில் பசுபதிநாதர் ஆலயம் மிக முக்கியமான இடத்தைப் பெற்றிருக்கிறது.
