At first glance, this strange creature looks like something from another planet. But in reality, it’s a caterpillar!

Filmed with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ2000 / FZ2500 and the Marumi DHG +3 achromat, using both optical zoom and i.Zoom. This footage shows the larva of the Lobster Moth (Stauropus fagi), in German also known as the Buchen-Zahnspinner.

This unusual caterpillar is well known for its alien-like appearance and peculiar movements, which makes it one of the most fascinating insects.
