Bengal Foundation organised a four-day cultural festival titled 'Prane Ano Gan' from December 24 to 27, 2025. Supported by Dhaka Bank, the festival is aimed at reflecting the nuances of tradition and contemporary culture, through music, crafts, and visual art, in celebration of Bangladesh’s month of independence. This event is part of Bengal Foundation’s continuous endeavour to make the practice and pursuit of Bangladesh’s art and culture more dynamic, accessible and multidimensional.

১৯৬০ থেকে ১৯৮০ - এই সময়কে বাংলাদেশে ছায়াছবির স্বর্ণযুগ বলা হয়। তখন রোমান্টিক, বিয়োগান্তক, দেশাত্মবোধক ও সামাজিক ধারার ছায়াছবির গান বিপুল জনপ্রিয়তা অর্জন করে। গানগুলো রূপায়ণ করেছিলেন সুনিপুণ কণ্ঠে রুনা লায়লা, সাবিনা ইয়াসমিন, শাহনাজ রহমতুল্লাহ, আবিদা সুলতানা প্রমুখ। সে-সময়ে গাজী মাজহারুল আনোয়ার, খান আতাউর রহমান, আজাদ রহমানের কথায় যেমন জাদু ছিল, আলম খান, সুবল দাস, আলাউদ্দিন আলী প্রমুখ বুনেছিলেন সুরের অনন্য মায়াজাল। ‘নীল আকাশের নিচে’ (১৯৬৯) ছায়াছবিতে ‘গান হয়ে এলে’ গানটিতে কণ্ঠ দেন শিল্পী ফেরদৌসী রহমান। গানটির কথা মোহাম্মদ মনিরুজ্জামান, সুর সত্য সাহা।

ঢাকা ব্যাংক ও বেঙ্গল ফাউন্ডেশনের উদ্যোগে আয়োজিত চার দিনব্যাপী সাংস্কৃতিক উৎসব ’প্রাণে আনো গান’ -এ ছায়াছবির সেই সোনালি দিনের গান গেয়ে শোনান চম্পা বণিক।

The period between 1960 and 1980 is regarded as the golden age of cinema in Bangladesh. During this era, film songs spanning romantic, tragic, patriotic, and social genres achieved immense popularity. These songs were brought to life by the masterful voices of Runa Laila, Sabina Yasmin, Shahnaz Rahmatullah, and Abida Sultana, among others. Just as there was magic in the lyrics of Gazi Mazharul Anwar, Khan Ataur Rahman, and Azad Rahman, the likes of Alam Khan, Subal Das, and Alauddin Ali wove a unique and enchanting tapestry of melody. In the film Neel Akasher Niche (1969), the song ‘Gaan Hoye Ele’ was voiced by the artist Ferdausi Rahman. The lyrics were penned by Mohammad Moniruzzaman, with music composed by Satya Saha.

At ‘Prane Ano Gaan’, a four-day cultural festival organised by Dhaka Bank and the Bengal Foundation, Champa Banik performed songs from the golden era of Bengali cinema.

Champa Banik is a leading Bangladeshi singer known for her versatility in Rabindra Sangeet, folk, and modern film music. She first gained attention as a contestant on the popular talent hunt show CloseUp1: Tomakei Khujchhey Bangladesh (2005), where she received the "CloseUp-1 Personality Award." With a career spanning over two decades, she has released numerous albums, including Baba Priyo Dhon and Sopner Anginay.
