Denmark officially retired its F-16 Fighting Falcon fleet on January 18, 2026, marking the end of 46 years of service. The transition is part of a major shift to the fifth-generation F-35A Lightning II, which is now the sole combat aircraft of the Royal Danish Air Force (RDAF).
Key Retirement Details
Final Flight: The last operational flight took place at Skrydstrup Air Base on January 18, 2026. Four F-16s performed a ceremonial formation flight before the final aircraft touched down at 13:57 local time.
