Skyrim - Finale Main Quest Longplay [No Commentary] EP 8

after learning the truth carved into alduin’s wall, our next destination becomes clear. esbern believes the answers lie at the throat of the world, so we make the long climb back up to high hrothgar. the journey is cold, steep and exhausting, but at the summit we finally meet paarthurnax, the ancient dragon who once fought alongside the nord heroes against alduin. he tells us about the ancient shout dragonrend, a shout mortals once used to force alduin to face death itself. the problem is, the knowledge of it was lost to time.

to recover that knowledge, i’m sent on the elder knowledge quest, which takes me far from the mountain and deep into forgotten ruins. i travel to winterhold and eventually into the massive dwemer ruin of blackreach, where i obtain an elder scroll that can show events from the distant past. the journey is dangerous, strange, and full of ancient machines, but the scroll is the key to everything.

with the elder scroll in hand, i return to the throat of the world for alduin’s bane. using the scroll, i witness the ancient battle where the nord heroes banished alduin through time, learning dragonrend in the process. alduin appears once again, and this time i can finally fight him properly, forcing him to retreat.

next comes the fallen. with help from the greybeards and the blades, we lure one of alduin’s allies, odahviing, to dragonsreach in whiterun. after an intense battle and capture, odahviing reveals the location of alduin’s refuge: sovngarde, the nord afterlife itself. with no other way to reach it, odahviing agrees to carry me there.

the final stretch is dragonslayer. i enter sovngarde, shrouded in mist and filled with fallen nord heroes. together, we push back the fog and confront alduin one last time. the battle is intense and symbolic, but in the end alduin is defeated, breaking the cycle and saving skyrim from the world-eater.

with the main threat ended, i return to the world changed. dragons still roam the skies, but the fate of skyrim is no longer hanging by a thread. for now, it’s time to rest, reflect, and decide where the road will lead next.
