BAD BLOOD | Why the Ideology of the Left and the Ideology of the Right are Equally Self-Insufficient

Donald Wallenfang, OCDS, PhD discusses a phenomenology of ideology as it functions within church and society. Juxtaposing the Ideology of the Left with the Ideology of the Right, Wallenfang leverages one ideology against the other in order to suggest a rapprochement toward the whole. The distortions of reality found in each ideology are due to the lack of mutual correction and complementarity that nevertheless remains possible through a dialectical unification of the two primary ideological patterns of thought and their healing by the grace of God. References are made to the writings of Joseph Ratzinger, Pope John Paul II, and Karl Mannheim's 1936 book Ideology and Utopia.
