1 Hotel West Hollywood Hotel room tour and hotel review - YOU WONT BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED

My best friend planned a two day weekend at 1 Hotel West Hollywood for my birthday. She knows how much I love my baths so as a surprise she booked a room with a bathtub on a high floor and paid extra for the bathtub/high floor. She also called the hotel directly and confirmed the room with the hotel.

Upon arriving to the hotel at check-in they tell her the room she booked is NOT available. What? She was very upset as you can imagine especially because she paid extra and confirmed to make a special surprise for me. This is not something you would expect from a 5 star hotel. She asks to speak with a manager and he comes out and she explains the situation. He goes on to tell her there is nothing he can do as they are at full capacity. She is pissed to say the least. This has never happened to us before at any hotel. Definitely put a damper to the start of the weekend. Manager then says he will move us our second night to the room we booked which meant 3 girls packing up all their stuff (girls bring a lot even for a 2 day weekend lol) and wasting our weekend time having to move rooms. With no choice we agreed.

First room was cute. The low floor views are not as nice as the high floor rooms. It is worth it to pay extra but beware you may not get it when you check in.

Second room was exactly what we booked. High floor with a great view and the nice big bathtub.

Rooms are very clean but there is nowhere to put your clothes except to hang them in the closet. If you are coming for more than a weekend keep that in mind.

Bellmen at the hotel are exceptional.

Hotel smells amazing!

Harriet’s Rooftop is gorgeous. They have a DJ at night. If you plan on going there for dinner I would not recommend. We ate there for dinner the first night and the food was mediocre, expensive and just small bites. Charcuterie board was small and looked like they just threw stuff on it and was not tasty at all. But if you want to go for a drink and listen to some music it’s great BUT you will not get a seat. You have to book table service which is outrageously expensive or eat there. I think if you come for appetizers and a drink and then go out to dinner it’s your best bet.

The lobby bar gets packed at night and has some great cocktails and a DJ.

The pool has an amazing view. It is extremely small. By 3:00 it is packed and I didn’t want to go in it with that many people all up on each other drinking if you know what I mean. Go early to get a lounger.

They have an audi that will drop you off anywhere within I think it’s a 5 mile radius so go have dinner somewhere else like The Grill in the alley, a fantastic restaurant.

Breakfast in the hotel was okay but they are understaffed so expect to wait for sometime to get your food or for a waiter to come to your table. There are so many great breakfast places close by so I would avoid breakfast here.

I don’t usually complain, this was a first.

All in all we ended up enjoying our weekend. I am not sure that I would stay again. This is not what a 5 star hotel is suppose to be. I would probably go back to The Mondrian next door. Our stays there have always been wonderful for a fun girls trip.

1 Hotel Brooklyn can’t be beat and I hear 1 Hotel Miami is amazing. Hopefully West Hollywood will make some changes.
