Gauvain Manhattan is a contemporary artist, comic strip author and entrepreneur. His art plays on the stereotypes associated with needlework, combining old canvas with the pixelated images of video games. The two blends with amazing fluidity. Building on his passion for canvas, in 2018 he and illustrator Marie Boiseau set about creating Canevas Fatal (www.canevasfatal.com), a canvas publishing house. They collaborate with artists and illustrators from diverse backgrounds to offer more modern and accessible subjects.
In this video, Gauvain talks to us about his personal and business approach, and above all about his work to democratise needlework, particularly among the younger generations.
