How It Works: When light enters the prism, it slows down and bends towards the normal (the imaginary line perpendicular to the surface). Upon exiting the prism, it speeds up again and bends away from the normal.

Angle of Deviation: The angle between the original direction of the light and its final direction after passing through the prism is called the angle of deviation (
