Venterstad in the Eastern Cape (just) is a one horse town, but at least the horse is still alive. It has a kinda holiday vibe to it, laid back and relaxed. The upper reaches of the Gariep dam are just a km or 2 from the town.
Things to do in Venterstad: 1. Watch the traffic going past. 2. Check the weather 3. Wait for more traffic. 4. Umm. Oh ya! Visit the Willem se Kampie roadside restaurant 10km out of town!!
Seriously though, the Gariep dam with all it's water sports etc is not that far away.
