Honestly, not my best video. BUT-
I make an attempt in this essay here to explore why, despite being fun and exciting films, movies like Braveheart, Gladiator, and The Patriot are not only politically hollow, but potentially politically dangerous and misleading, as well. Because while all of these stories profess to be about "freedom," they make "freedom a simple, abstract, yet black and white concept, without ever making an effort to explore what freedom actually is, means, or looks like- other than what, maybe, freedom is not.
