The 1967 produced versions of O Canada and God Save the Queen played each evening on CBC Television prior to sign-off. The music and videos of each anthem were produced so that they complemented one another. O Canada was at the time Canada's unofficial national patriotic song whilst God Save the Queen was the official national anthem of Canada. CBC ceased playing God Save the Queen in 1980 when O Canada was proclaimed Canada's national anthem, but many CTV network stations continued to play both anthems, or occasionally only God Save the Queen. In 1980, the CBC began airing the 'With Glowing Hearts' version of O Canada prior to sign-off.
