I went to the bush with the challenge of trying to get a fire going using the bow drill method, but this time I timed myself to see how long exactly it would take me, my plan was get all the materials I needed as soon as possible and then create the set as fast as possible. I didn't realise it at the time but rushing, actually slowed down my ability to get a fire going as quickly as possible, as I was making mistakes along the way due to "rushing it".
I had the added challenge that it had been raining quite a bit and I was making and trying to get a fire going in a valley next to a creek, so it was very damp and moist.
I found this to be a humbling experience and I learnt a lot.
I realised it doesn't matter how good we are at something we can always come at it from a different perspective and there is still so much to learn, it was also a very good reminder that when you challenge yourself, you will fail more, and failing is good because we can learn so much from it.
I hope this video gives you some value, I hope you learn something you can take with you, and feel free to ask any questions.
