Notes:
• The way to achieve the thick guitar sound on this one is to exaggerate the already expansive low end of the guitar by adding a healthy amount of ‘sub-octave’ on the Micro Synth pedal (not so much higher octave, and no square wave). This should be on for the entire song except the melodic parts. Also, tap the Boss OC-2 octave pedal on (also emphasizing the lower octave) for extra sludge when you play the part of the main heavy riff that is high on the neck. For the solo: use the Micro Synth and (optional) stack the fuzz factory to add glitch and chaos - a very fun technique that Dan used often during live performances. But wait...we're not finished just yet... maintain a healthy amount of reverb to get a mild stadium-like sound, and add the Rocktron Tsunami to the last heavy riff of the song. Between the octave range you get from the tuning and pedals, and the expansive soundscapes, man this is one big guitar sound. Don't forget to crank that amp loud!
• This song is considered by most fans to be among the band’s heaviest songs released (others usually being Spawn Again, The Lever, or No Association).
• Live band performance for the song in this video taken from their 'Live at the Wireless' performance on April 1, 2002 @ Triple J Studios in Sydney, NSW, Australia, to celebrate the release of their fourth studio album, 'Diorama'.
