This N43 had an issue with leaking injectors that I think may have caused the timing to go
Pete Tong. Either way it needs a whole new chain drive and a set of injectors.
I scoped the cam and crank signals and compared with a B38 as I do not have an N43 scope trace from a known good vehicle however the B series timing looks very similar.
The crank was 5 Degrees off from the cam timing - the whole job is a bit of a mess and we caught this just in time as the injector in number 2 was pouring fuel in for some time with the key removed from the car - a real bad leak.
The hope is in 2 weeks I will have replaced everything and in part 2 we will look at the scope trace again and compare with this one in this video and see the differences. The aim is to have a library of scope traces that will enable me to perform timing diagnoses without removing the valve covers.
