Presets for Everyone:
One of my biggest gripes with Serum 1 was that the factory presets felt heavily skewed towards specific electronic genres. Serum 2 blows this wide open with an incredibly versatile library of plug-and-play sounds perfect for Trap, Lofi, Phonk, Folk, EDM, and even Metal producers.

The Heart of the Synth - New Sound Sources:
The core of Serum 2 has been massively overhauled.

Third Oscillator: We now have a third primary wavetable oscillator, allowing for fatter, more complex, and deeply layered sounds right from the start.

Hybrid Engines: This is the real game-changer. Serum 2 is no longer just a wavetable synth. It now includes four new oscillator modes:

Granular: Turn any sample into evolving textures and glitchy soundscapes.

Spectral: Manipulate the individual harmonics of a sample in real-time for glassy, otherworldly tones.

Single Sample: An advanced sampler with FM, phase distortion, and real-time slicing.

Multisample (SFZ): Turns Serum 2 into a proper instrument player, capable of loading complex, velocity-layered libraries like pianos and orchestral sounds.

CPU Performance:
With great power comes great CPU usage. Serum 2 can be much more intensive than its predecessor, especially when using the new engines and effects. I share my personal experience running it on a Mac Studio, but it's something every producer should be aware of.

Sound Shaping Evolved - Filters & FX:

Dual Filters: The most requested feature is finally here! Run two filters in series for incredibly detailed tonal sculpting, complete with new analog-modeled filter types.

Reimagined FX Rack: The entire effects section has been rebuilt from the ground up. It features two dedicated FX busses, a new Mixer view for intuitive signal flow, and the ability to save and load individual effect presets.

FX Splitting: A game-changing feature that allows you to split your audio by frequency (low/mid/high) or stereo image (mid/side) and apply different effect chains to each band. This brings powerful multiband processing directly inside the synth.

New Effects: The arsenal has grown with a dedicated Convolution Reverb (for impulse responses), higher-quality reverb algorithms, a Bode Frequency Shifter, and a super-useful Utility module with a one-knob Mono Bass control.
