This is what happens when a fighter jet manufacturer produce cars. Saab had a feature called “Night Panel”. Just like with the airplanes, when activated the whole dash would go dark except for a dimly lit speedometer. Gauges that needed to be seen would light up if their readings were abnormal. By doing that, the system preserved night vision and mental focus of the driver for long night rides.
