At the ADA Conference in Chicago, the FreeStyle Libre just teased that they will soon release an updated version of “Libre by Abbott” app which will add Apple Watch compatibility! However, there are some important caveats to consider: 1. This will be coming to the newer Libre by Abbott app detailed in one of my previous videos, NOT the legacy Libre 2 or Libre 3 app. 2. This will NOT be direct-to-watch, so your iPhone will need to be nearby 3. From the screenshots in the promo imaging, it suggests that it will NOT include a watch face complication (aka Widget). I’m hoping I’m wrong, since this feature is huge. 4. Many people don’t know this, but AID users do 100% of their interaction with the Libre and its data through the pump company software. This means AID users will NOT be able to take advantage of this upcoming Apple Watch integration unless the pump companies build in Apple Watch integration themselves. Of note, here are the Libre 3 Plus pump partners: 1. Beta Bionics iLet 2. Sequel Twist 3. Omnipod 5 (announced) 4. Tandem Mobi and X2 (announced) 5.
