The Government has begun work on making the process of registering a stillbirth more compassionate for grieving parents.
Right now, families who experience a stillbirth must use the same online system designed for registering live births — a process many say adds unnecessary trauma at an already devastating time.
The shift follows a Stuff investigation into perinatal bereavement care, which revealed gaps in support available to parents after loss.
