With just 24 operational fire appliances serving the entire Ashanti Region, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has begun a region-wide sensitisation campaign ahead of the Christmas festivities.
The campaign targets high-risk and congested areas, including markets and lorry terminals, as the Service warns that limited resources make public cooperation critical. Out of 43 districts, only 29 have fire stations, while four fire tenders are currently faulty.
