First overall in a relatively slick time trial session. A few mistakes cost me time relative to my fastest lap from the morning, in addition to the usual losses due to higher track and air temperatures. This was also my first time properly pushing with both stability and traction control disabled (to this point, I had been running with TC on). I have enough confidence in my car control to trust my inputs in a controlled session like this - and being entirely responsible for what the car does at corner exit will give me a better sense of its balance in that phase. More to come!
Having said that, I don't think I'd have changed a thing about the balance of the car in these conditions. My only difficulty was bringing the Vitour tires up to temperature on the out lap; I was surprised at how much low-temperature grip they seem to have lost after only a few heat cycles.
PCA time trials have been an awesome addition to the usual DE weekend schedule, providing incentive and space for me to push harder for a result. The setup, where you're all but guaranteed clear track but only have a set time (two laps in this case) to post a lap, is very similar to autocross or qualifying. If only these sessions were run earlier in the day when air and track temperatures are lower!
That said, the rest of the weekend was a wash. Huge run group with wide spread in speed = very few opportunities to push.
Only modification: Vitour Tempesta P1 (200tw) tires in 255/35, 305/30 sizes on Apex VS-5RS 20” wheels
