Eco Touch demonstrates how to effectively clean and degrease your car's engine in a few simple steps. We're using Eco Touch All Purpose Degreaser which will effectively dissolves grease, oil and other stubborn contaminants. Plus, it's completely free of any harsh solvents so a safer alternative than traditional engine degreasers. To start, you'll want to make sure your engine is completely cool to the touch. If the surface is warm the cleaning formula can dissolve rapidly and lose its effectiveness.

Next, you'll want to cover any sensitive components such as your air intake, battery or other exposed filters. Even though we're not going to be using water to rinse off the degreaser, it's still a good idea to have them covered up.

Continue by removing any loose contaminants from the area. You'd be surprised as to how much actually makes its way into your car's engine over time!

Liberally spray down the engine components one section at a time. allow them to set for at least 30 seconds. Grab either a soft bristle scrub brush and agitate the formula gently to remove any dirt and grime. Follow this up with a quick wipe from the microfiber towel. If the stain continues to reside on the surface, repeat the process.

Now that the engine has been cleaned, you can continue on with applying a protective agent. In the video we just focused on engine degreasing, but applying a protectant can help prevent future build-up from occurring.

The core difference in this video is the fact that we aren't spraying down the surface with water after applying the degreaser. Many similar detailing how-to's show water being applied, but the heavy oil and grease will be released completely untreated into the environment. Not only is this harmful, but actually illegal to openly dump these materials into water systems.
