In this lecture, we explore the two major types of Encryption in Computer Science:
What is Symmetric Encryption? 🔑
→ A single secret key is used for both encryption and decryption.
→ Fast and efficient, but requires secure key sharing.
→ Examples: AES, DES.
What is Asymmetric Encryption? 🔐
→ Uses a public key for encryption and a private key for decryption.
→ More secure for communication since the private key never has to be shared.
→ Examples: RSA, ECC.
By the end of this lecture, you’ll clearly understand the differences, advantages, and use cases of symmetric vs asymmetric encryption in securing data.
Perfect for IGCSE/O-Level Computer Science (0478/2210) exam preparation.
