On October 14, 2021, at 6:30 p.m. EDT, the United States Army Heritage and Education Center in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, welcomed author and scholar Mr. Richard B. Frank for his General of the Army Omar N. Bradley Memorial Lecture titled, "The Asia-Pacific War, 1937 to 1945: The New History and Its Implications for Today." In this lecture, Mr. Frank examined how a new narrative of the Asia-Pacific War arose in recent decades. This new narrative commenced with the work of historian primarily in the Peoples Republic of China during the post Mao Zedong era, and was enhanced by the release of Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek’s diaries. Historians uncovered archival evidence and added insights to fuel a new historiography, restoring the framework of the Asia-Pacific War with a fresh look at the consequences in shaping the twenty-first century.
