FINANCIAL LITERACY FOR ARTISTS

Take control of your creative career with Financial Literacy for Creatives. This practical session will break down essential financial concepts — from budgeting and taxes to pricing your work and planning for long-term sustainability — giving you the confidence and tools to build a thriving, financially healthy creative practice.

Dr. Brian Lesson is a San Diego-based business educator and culinarian who combines creative thinking with a love of numbers and details. Brian currently leads the Hospitality Department at San Diego Mesa College and was a founding faculty member at Alliant International University’s MBA program in Hospitality Leadership. Over his career, he has worked with creative, strategic, and operational teams in hotels, restaurants, education, and talent management, always focused on elevating experiences for both guests and colleagues.

Brian's academic journey began in Culinary Arts at Delhi College of Technology, followed by studies in Hospitality Business Management at Buffalo State University. He went on to earn a Master of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management from Roosevelt University and a Doctorate in Business Administration from California Southern University.
