U.S. Senator Jerry Moran, a Republican from Kansas, provided reaction after a two Senate votes on funding failed to pass, pushing the federal government closer to a shutdown.
Senators rejected both a plan backed by Democrats and one by Republicans, measures that would have kept the government's doors open as a shutdown is set to start at midnight on Oct. 1.
Moran stressed the need for a short-term solution amid the government shutdown deadline.
