This was meant to be the beginning of an epic bikepacking adventure—until I discovered just how much rolling resistance Tannus Tyre Armour can add when combined with tubes on a fully loaded bike. At first, I thought it might be the weight… but after riding from Wodonga to Narrandera and back, I’m fairly certain it was the inserts.

I’ve now ordered tubeless 3-inch tires to hopefully solve the drag, and the plan is back on! I’ll be driving up to Alice Springs soon, where I’ll start a series of smaller bikepacking adventures exploring Central Australia for about a month. After that, I’m heading west into The Kimberley, then slowly making my way south—maybe even tackling parts of the legendary Canning Stock Route.
