Costa Rica Bird Photography

Lush and green, Sarapiqui is known for its rich biodiversity — a major farming region that produces bananas, coffee, cacao, pineapples, palm and other fruits and vegetables.

There are hiking trails and many opportunities to enjoy activities along the River Sarapiqui. But what drew me to this part of Costa Rica was the opportunities to look for wildlife especially birds.

Tico Rainforest B&B provided a base camp to explore the area to look for wildlife. My hosts Victor and Magda welcomed me into their home and Magda’s cooking offered a delicious sampling of the traditional Tico cuisine.

A wrap-around covered porch is the highlight of your stay. With a bird’s eye view you’ll observe the numerous species of birds that visit Victor’s fruit hooks. Fresh bananas and plantains keep the birds coming to the perches and the entire scene is a photographer’s paradise. In the morning, a walk through the property offers opportunities to see fresh fruits and flowers in bloom.
