my golden birthday ♥

it's been a little minute, my bad haha. but I'm back! hehe, subscribe for more videos and lmk any requests :)

it's been a little hectic over here. my birthday was actually closer to the end of spring, but I've been traveling and thought it would be fun this year to actually have a chill (yet still meaningful) budget birthday this year. my lover and I recreated our first date and dedicated our time to... well, as Oprah once said, "alone time is when I distance myself from the voices of the world so I can hear my own."

I find peace in solitude, which is new for me... must be another thing that magically comes along with your 20's, haha. as I got older, I realized that not everyone deserves the best version of ourselves... but every person at least owes that to themselves.

if I told you detail by detail what has happened throughout this year, you would think I would be lying when I say this has been the most impactful and memorable year yet. most likely because knowing me, I say that nearly every year. however, this year showed me so much about myself.. my strength, perseverance, and how God has an incredible way of showing you who is truly "there" for you... so I decided to just be there for myself this birthday after some bday month pregaming (aka slumber party with my friends, backpacking to a place I haven't been before, etc... COMING SOON, hehe)... my social battery wasn't necessarily drained (because knowing me... that's almost impossible..), but it was important for myself to slowwwww down.

when I was younger, a teacher once told me a quote that had always stuck, which was "only boring people get bored"... and I've lived by that ever since hearing it for the first time. call it irresponsible, but I like to nickname it "spontaneity", haha. usually every year I travel with a person I vibe with and tuck my phone away to escape and go somewhere that probably cost me two or more paychecks in advance to afford... but because I've been traveling enough already this year, and I can assure you that neither me nor my bank account wanted anything extravagant for this may 24 ;)

hopefully this can inspire people to just do what they want for their birthday. you don't have to financially splurge to have a good time, and you don't have to invite anyone else if you aren't in the mood... you can go roadtrip to a different country if you wanted, or even go to your favorite diner just down the street.

also // thank you so much to my long distance friendships that know materialism will never be something I crave, I like simple yet meaningful... especially you Trev, every birthday I've had you've literally been in a different country yet still go out your way to make me feel just as important as TJ to you, lmao jk. but real friends who always do their effort in showing their appreciation for me by showering me with love, birthday or not, and even when I don't remind them or am not in the mood to hahah. and if you're ever stuck in a situation where someone important to you forgets, don't even worry about it... late gifts means you get to celebrate your birthday longer, hahah ;) but forreal. I have the best time when I'm surrounded by incredible people, and this year... I had the best birthday with my lover and will always always be grateful for those who still showed me love from afar :)

it means so much to me because growing up, I never really could balance my social anxiety with my extroverted personality... I hated birthdays with a passion, so I would never even remind people. plus that pressure of "no one is going to remember" or "no one is going to show up"... I have literally always feared when my birthday would come along until I grew up and realized that it's truly YOUR day... celebrate it how you want and who gives a flying chicken for those who don't understand it, and who gives a flying poo how you decide to dance on a beach.

celebrate YOU on your birthday, do it your way... and if you don't know "your" way, spend time finding your way.
